Buying your children's names prior to birth is a pretty significant leap of faith that this system of domain names and how important those addresses are to the online real estate of the future is pretty compelling and interesting.  There is one thing for sure.  People are doing it.  Something to remember is that there is a significant weight given to domain names in the search engine ranking system.  You can't control what people say about you but you can certainly influence what they see.  Your personal digital identification is starting to get kind of scary.  We've got two words for you; Blogs and Personal Domains.  If you don't own your domain name, you better buy it.  If you want to try and brand your personality you may even want to buy a domain name like 247Mike or Mike360.com which are more likely to be available then just a first name.  "247" (like 24/7) and "360" like (360 degree) are even more brandable actually so if your' re name isn't available, you still have a few nice options possibly.  But not for long, that is for sure!
