domain newsBuying domain names in the hopes of the value increasing is a fun hobby, and can be a nice investment if you know what you're doing.  Some people really have a knack for it, like Rick Swartz, who recently sold iReport.com to CNN for 750k.  If you want to take a systematic approach to domain speculation, I suggest reading the news alot, go to tech conference and find out what the new buzz words are as the Internet keeps moving at the speed of light. As everyone knows, blogs are the new black.  Blogs can actually replace the need for a web site or content management system in many respects, and with new blog publishing tools, that have built in SEO, blog publishing tools are becoming very popular.  So about 1 month ago, I purchased blogpublishingtool.com and my gosh it was available, so I searched for Social Media Platforms.com and it too was available.  Amazing.  SocialMediaTool.com was available and snatched that up too.  I estimate that these three domains are worth at least 5k each.  Within a year or two, probably worth 10k to 50k.  These domains are giving me natural searches already as the space heats up.  I also purchased 247Lifecast.com and Lifestreaming.tv in same time period.  Probably worth 2k to 25k right now.  Stay ahead of the trends and you can do well.  I have to admit, I got lucky but without persistence.  About a year ago, I bought Meltdown.tv and it was available!!!  This domain and blog is probably worth 100k right now.  Cool. : )
